Every year in Ireland, something magical happen. Under the initiative of Birdwatch Ireland, each county around the Island celebrates the return of our migratory birds, all the way from Africa. The local avifauna seems to be the loudest, with our Robins, Tits, Blackbirds and the unusual Yellowhammers.

This year, Birdwatch Ireland Meath decided to hold the event on a small farm, producing Rapeseed Oil – the new sought after Irish oil – competing with our Italian friend. The place was safe and the view exquisite. Most of us got rewarded by the Song Trush, the Robin and a Blackbird, early singer at 4 am…

After a two hour walk above the Boyne River, Jack, John and Darryl treated us to a special breakfast “Al Fresco”, with local produces and with a new group called Boyne Valley Foods…


What a reward it was when over 100 people turned up! Food and Nature goes as a pair in my books; Food and respect for the environment…
If we can get the world to wake up early, we can change the future of the next generation…
